Welcome Beings of All Sorts

Welcome beings of all sorts! Somehow, you have found this blog. :D I congratulate you on that whether it was through success or failure! My name is Madeleine Schmuch aka MadDog and I am an amateur cosplayer. I will also be your guide here. This blog came to be because I needed to organize my cosplays and constantly work on them so that I would finish them. I thought that if I had a commitment to post I would work more often and would not forget important things. This blog started off as being called "MadDog's Sewing" but has since then turned into a guide to cosplay and has taken on the new name "MadDog's Wicked Guide to Wicked Cosplay." That being said, I'm terrible with names. This blog should really be called "MadDog's Tips That She's Found to be Useful and is now Sharing on a Blog in Hopes That They Might Help Somebody Else in Their Efforts to Cosplay." That name fits this blog much better however, it was a little bit too long. Moving on, I've added new sections to make this blog more informative but they are almost all ongoing sections. (If you need information on certain things now, please shoot me an email. Email: wickedcosplay@yahoo.com) Whether you just want to follow my projects or learn how to start cosplaying, I'm hoping that this blog will be a help. MadDog out! :)

My Everyday Cosplays #3

I'm sure that you are all going to marvel at all of the wondrous effort I put into making this "everyday cosplay" (and by effort, I mean no effort whatsoever). This casual cosplay shows us that if you are not cosplaying every day, you should be, because it is this simple. My casual cosplay today, is L (from Death Note). He wears a white shirt and jeans so that is what I'm wearing. The end. Hope you enjoy. MadDog out!

My Everyday Cosplays #2

Today I am "everday cosplaying" as Rei. I was just wearing her wig around my house (because let's be honest, I was missing the blue the hair) and I said to myself, "Hey, this is a great example of casual cosplay." So hear I am blogging about it. Yay! I also made this casual cosplay a bit more exciting by wearing my NERV shirt. So hear you go. I hope you enjoy. MadDog out!

Save Everything!

Recycle! Guys. Many, many things can be re-used for cosplay. For example, I have about ten, giant cardboard boxes in my closet right now that I can use in the future for making props. (My marching band got new uniforms not-too-long ago and I took all of the boxes that they came in. Yes, many people thought that I was an idiot walking down the halls with giant boxes but also, many people compliment my props. So there.) Here's a short list of examples of things that can be re-used.
  • Extra fabric ("But it's just an extra foot of purple fabric," you say, "Why?" No whining! It will save your butt someday.)
  • Patterns (If you make your own patterns or buy patterns, don't waste more time and money when you can re-use a pattern. Just don't)
  • Parts of school uniforms (A lot of school uniforms are similar in design and if you've made one, you can re-use pieces of it for other uniforms.)
  • Cardboard (If you don't want to, you don't have to take boxes from your school but you can always save cardboard form things that you get in the mail or even things like cereal boxes.)
  • Wigs (Yes, you read that correctly. Wigs can be incredibly expensive. If you have a character with similar hair to a character that you've previously cosplayed, re-style that wig for the new character--do not buy another $50 wig. Save your money.)
  • Shoes (If you can make a shoe cover for $5 instead of buying shoes for $50, make the shoe cover and re-use some shoes.)
My point here is, you can re-use a lot of things for cosplay so why not do so? (Heck, it'll save you a ton of money!) I hope that this has helped in your own cosplaying adventure. MadDog out!
