Welcome Beings of All Sorts

Welcome beings of all sorts! Somehow, you have found this blog. :D I congratulate you on that whether it was through success or failure! My name is Madeleine Schmuch aka MadDog and I am an amateur cosplayer. I will also be your guide here. This blog came to be because I needed to organize my cosplays and constantly work on them so that I would finish them. I thought that if I had a commitment to post I would work more often and would not forget important things. This blog started off as being called "MadDog's Sewing" but has since then turned into a guide to cosplay and has taken on the new name "MadDog's Wicked Guide to Wicked Cosplay." That being said, I'm terrible with names. This blog should really be called "MadDog's Tips That She's Found to be Useful and is now Sharing on a Blog in Hopes That They Might Help Somebody Else in Their Efforts to Cosplay." That name fits this blog much better however, it was a little bit too long. Moving on, I've added new sections to make this blog more informative but they are almost all ongoing sections. (If you need information on certain things now, please shoot me an email. Email: wickedcosplay@yahoo.com) Whether you just want to follow my projects or learn how to start cosplaying, I'm hoping that this blog will be a help. MadDog out! :)

Devit Part Three!

It has been so long... *Author's note: Read the previous phrase as dramatically as you possibly can.* Anyways, I was supposed to have Devit done for Sunday of (last) Anime Boston but clearly that didn't happen as I was planning on finishing his outfit Saturday night but I got sick and didn't even go to the convention on Sunday (sadness). Well, I have finally completed "the pants" and found an old white tank top which I painted a red "X" on. Other than the jacket (which I may not ever make) this completes my Devit cosplay. Sorry I didn't feel like doing the body paint and makeup right now but hopefully sometime over the summer, I will be doing a photoshoot with him so... I guess I hope that that makes up for it. It's not my best cosplay, but I think Devit turned out pretty okay. MadDog out!

Devit (aka Debitto aka David) Cosplay Part Two: The Pants... (In Progress)

Well, while I was in the process of making these pants it occurred to me (and by occurred to me I mean my friend pointed it out to me) that although I keep calling them pants, I don't really know what to call them. If you have any ideas, leave a comment or feel free to send me an email (wickedcosplay@yahoo.com). I would like to hear your thoughts.
Okay! So jeezums! This post took forever to arrive as well. Yeah, sorry again. (I am apologizing way too often--this needs to stop--I must be stronger--this is my blog!) However, it took me quite I while to gather all of the grommets that I needed to make them but I now have the finished product. Have fun following!

MATERIAL'S I HAVE GATHERED SINCE MY LAST POST ABOUT DEVIT:
120 black grommets (or eyelets; whatever you wanna call them)
An eyelet plier kit
(I ordered both of these from Amazon and they are from Dritz.)

STEP ONE:
I cut the leggings I had (on one one side) and hemmed them.

STEP TWO:
I cut a giant line down the middle of the long pant leg.

 STEP THREE:
Fold over, pin, and sew each side of the giant cut in my pant leg so that it looked even weirder than it did already.

STEP FOUR:
Spend multiple hours punching grommets into my pant leg and realizing that I'm going to need more than I bought to complete this cosplay.

STEP FIVE:
Lacing up (Or should I say lacing down?) the one part of my pants that is now finished.

STEP SIX:
Where around my house like a boss and practice posing as Devit even though you know you're not close to being done with his whole outfit yet.

That's all I've done for now. The pictures should be more help than my commentary but I'm sure you generally get it. Sorry about the strange angle on my legs that makes them look all misshapen (too lazy to take another one--long day of cosplay) but I hope you all enjoyed this post anyway! MadDog out!

Devit Makeup Update

For those of you following my Devit cosplay, here is a really quick update. For the problem of his gray skin, I have bought some Mehron makeup. Pancake for my face and a cream stick for my arms. (Hopefully I will be buying tights to make my legs gray but if not, I will be buying more makeup.) They are both Monster Grey 18B. That's about all, here are some pictures.

Devit (aka Debitto aka David) Cosplay Part One: The Pants...

I'm going to make most of this cosplay by altering clothes. Just letting you know. That being said, I have decided that Devit's pants will definitely be the hardest part of making his outfit so that's why I am starting with them. Like a lot of anime clothing, Devit and Jasdero's pants a very bizarre (they are very bizarre and their outfits are very bizarre in general). If you are just jumping in now and have no idea what I'm talking about, here's a picture. (Jadero's pants are basically the same with the exception of them not being short on one side.)

Moving on. To start this, I ordered some leggings and some cord from Amazon. What I plan on doing is basically cutting open the front and back of each leg, sewing them so that the cuts are nice and straight, and then lacing them up with cord. (If that makes any sense.) Also, I'm going to cut and hem one side so that I have one long pant leg and one short pant leg. (Like Devit's.) To make the Jasdero's pants (Bagle will be cosplaying as him) the same method will be used with the exception of cutting one side short. Simple enough? And finally, pictures and links. (Sorry, stillhaven't had time to figure out the timer thing yet--final exams--so you're still gonna have to deal with awkwardly taken photos.)

New Cosplay! Yay! Devit (aka Debitto aka David) From D.Gray-Man

Please no yelling or even sighing from those of you who want to see what becomes of my Alois cosplay, but I am starting a new project. I will still be working on my Alois cosplay but because the jacket fabric is so difficult to work with, I can only work with it for a certain amount of time before I start getting all twitchy and then just completely lose whatever might have possibly been left of my sanity a few moments later. (Yup. That about sums it up.)
I will now also be working on Devit from D.Gray-Man. Me and a few of my friends will be cosplaying as a group of D.Gray-Man characters and actually Bagel, whom you've met before (Please Click Here), will be Jasdero, his "partner in crime." If you've any questions about the show D.Gray-Man itself, ask away (otherwise I'm just going to assume you know it or are fine with looking it up yourselves). In these pictures, the blonde is Jasdero (Bagle) and the other is Devit (me, MadDog).
